Thyme oil is steam distilled from the flowering tops and leaves of the plant resulting in a red thyme oil. Further distillation produces the white thyme oil which is less irritating than the red. The white thyme has a milder, fresher, cleaner scent than the red and blends well with citrus notes, peru balsam, and lavender very well.
